This is Day 5 in a series of posts I have chosen to write during the time of my current - and last, for a while - trip to Israel in March 2023. My experience of Israel in these last 7 years of my residence has been vivid, inspiring, nerve wracking, debilitating, and wholly, precisely, profoundly the medicine I've needed. Words will not (yet) fully express the treasures I've received from my presence here, but I believe the commitment, challenge, and confidence of these 25 Days of Israel are a beautiful homage to their glory in my life.

Today was long, emotionally draining and honestly, a bit hard. Because of this, I didn’t have the same chance I have had all these other days to sit and write as I wanted to.

What I can share, however, is a collection of some odd thoughts I had throughout the day, some of the notes I wrote to myself in passing when they came to me. They have no rhyme or reason, and perhaps are left open and hanging, but they are as they are and reflect March 6th, 2023 😊

Israel can give some serious JUICE to people who are willing and able to hold the containers of their own making. You must have completeness of vision, in a sense of ability to stretch your eye across the whole picture, but if you do, Lord, it’s a-coming!

There's something primed across the land, in Israel, waiting for people to seize it - and this is where the greatness has come from when they do.

You will be backed up, and given an expressway to ecstasy. There’s something primed across the land, waiting for people to seize it - and this is where the greatness has come from when they do. It’s compelling and very very sexy, let me honestly tell you!

For months, I have had a serious hankering for couscous. None of this boxed garbage (though I concede that some of those can be respectably prepackaged) - real, proper, orgasmically fluffy, sopping wet couscous. Honestly, I think I just need a Tunisian or Moroccan mother to adopt me…

That said, in all seriousness, if at any point you have handmade couscous prepared and at your disposal, if it is within your means… please feed me? 🙏🏻

It's no couscous, but these dolmas (stuffed grape leaves) and cashew labneh that were part of my dinner weren't too bad ;)

Israel is a country where you have the opportunity to become who you essentially are and who you want to be. It is a country for the emergence of growth - the start up nation, if you will 😉 It’s about the journey of becoming.

Israel is a country for the emergence of growth - the start up nation. It's about the journey of becoming.

By contrast, Berlin is a city for people who are already living to at least a certain degree as their authentic selves. Thus, it is often considered as a city of misfits, as a collection of people so individual they often don’t fit into any other specific norms. It’s about the enriching, refining, soaring, and nourishing of the vision and experience of your bright, bold self. Scale-up nation. The opportunity is not to “become;” it’s to see where you can go next 😉
